Kylie is a pioneering entrepreneur of science communication, launching award-winning COSMOS magazine and helping establish Nature in Australia and New Zealand. She has transformed how everyday people think about science and technology.
Kylie’s science communications agency, STEM Matters advises multinational tech companies, universities, research organisations and social good ventures.
Although a speaker, juror and media personality, Kylie’s core focus is helping organisations accelerate the progress of science through strategic engagement. Her work has directly resulted in research attracting over $100 million in additional funding.

He specialises in developing strategies that balance a deep understanding of audience needs and business objectives with innovative and compelling storytelling to inspire, engage and build the profile of researchers and their research.

Aisling O'Gara
EDITORIAL AND COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
Aisling O’Gara is a science and technology communicator with more than a decade of experience in innovation and emerging technologies. She has led editorial and internal communications at (Google) X, Alphabet’s incubator for next generation technologies like self-driving cars; ran internal comms for Google’s Android division; and worked as an “internal journalist- in-residence” at Dropbox.

Michelle Fincke

Since starting out at The Herald, Michelle Fincke has worked for a range of newspapers and magazines, including as TV editor at The Sun, Melbourne editor of the Australian Women’s Weekly and deputy editor of The Australian Way for Qantas and editor of the custom titles Fernwood and House.
She has covered a wide range of topics across many titles – everything from entertainment to fitness, cardiovascular disease to daily news.

Ken Eastwood is an award-winning journalist, author and photographer. Ken has been collecting and writing great yarns around the world for over two decades. In his journalistic work he has travelled from Antarctica to the Arctic studying everything from climate change to the hunting habits of the Mardu people in the western deserts of Australia.

Pamela Whitby is an independent writer, researcher and editor who has covered everything from the travel industry to healthcare, parenting, mining, insurance and IT. She has worked for news, media and events organisations as well as the occasional corporate. Among them the BBC, the Economist Intelligence Unit, Telegraph Media, The Observer, Reuters Events and the EU-Africa Business Forum. She lives in London with a foot in Africa and in her free time is writing fiction.

Blair Palese is a world leader in climate and environmental communications. She is currently global climate editor for Climate & Capital Media. She co- founded 350.org Australia, was head of PR for The Body Shop and Communications Director for Greenpeace International and Greenpeace USA.

Kate Holdsworth is an advertising copywriter by trade, but a non-denominational creative at heart — passionate about big ideas, beautiful craft and using creativity and humour to connect with people.
Curiosity in the weird and wonderful has taken her from science journalist, to graphic designer, art director, and for the past decade, creative copywriter — mostly in the purpose-led and evidence-based space.

ART DIRECTOR
Tania Simanowsky is an award-winning art director with over 20 years experience. She is a leading talent in the area of infographics, with a strong focus on science, sustainability, heath, nutrition and the environment.
Tania has been nominated for several MPA awards, including Cover of the Year and Consumer Title of the Year. In 2015 she was awarded Launch Title of the Year for Eat Fit magazine. To date she has worked on 120+ different titles.
